Dinner our first night in Vienna was at Zwölf Apostelkeller, a traditional restaurant in a cellar dating back to 1339. I of course got a wienerschnitzel as big as my face, along with potato salad, bread dumplings, and apfelstrudel. (If you haven’t had bread dumplings, they’re a traditional Czech thing that look like little white slices of boiled bread but are dense and soak up the flavor of whatever goulash you put them over. A carb-lover’s dream!) We drank all of the Ottakringer radler they had in stock while a violinist serenaded us well into the night.
