In Rynek Główny (Main Market), the central square of Kraków that dates back to the 13th century, you’ll find the Sukiennice (Cloth Hall) with its stalls full of vendors. My boyfriend bought me a ring here with amber pulled from the Baltic Sea. Apparently resin falls from pine trees in places like Gdańsk, Poland, hardens in the sea, and is fished out for jewelry. Mine is the size of a small planet, but you don’t have to be as gaudy as I am.
