Wawel Castle in Krakow was built in the 1300s on Wawel Hill and has been an art museum since 1930. We took an excellent audio-guided tour of Wawel Cathedral and enjoyed making fun of the English guy’s pronunciation of the Polish kings’ and queens’ names. Mwahahaha. I read that when Chicago’s Tribune Tower was built, they used a piece of Wawel Castle on the front to pay homage to the huge Polish population there. What I’d love to know is how they convinced Poland to just hand over a chunk of castle.
